Is Donald Trump Ugly?

Former president, Donald Trump, said at his rally in Pennsylvania, "I look better than Kamala Harris." Many people have commented about the way Trump looks, usually making fun of his choice of "tanning" color. They also mention the shape of his physique. Neither of which I need to give an example. You would have had to live under a rock not to know most of the comments about him. We don't need to address whether Trump is attractive. NOPE! That said, does attractiveness play a role in who people choose for president?

Studies going at least as far back to the 1970s tended to show a positive correlation between handsomeness and how subjects assessed a candidate. Scholars sometimes reasoned that the attractiveness effect took place because voters without a lot of information about a candidate used good looks to infer other good qualities—a kind of “halo effect.” Voters appear primarily drawn to faces that suggested competence.

Since all of the presidents have been men, we are in new territory, discovering does attractiveness matter when choosing a female president. The backlash from Trump's comments about Kamala Harris appearance, would make you believe looks do not matter. Looks have always matter.

Did looks make a difference for John Kennedy? Google him and you will find descriptions such as, witty, charismatic, and handsomeJohn Kennedy's youthful vigor attracted a new generation of Americans to public service and political engagement. At 43 years of age, Kennedy became the nation's youngest-elected president. His debate with Former President Nixon, solidified that a candidate's appearance mattered. Nixon looked a mess during the debate while Kennedy looked cool, calm, and collected.

Obama is considered to be handsome by I dare say, millions of women of all races. Obama's sex appeal hasn't hurt him in such images of him exited an ocean in his swim trunks. His physical fitness captured in photos for the world to see. What other president would get high marks in a swimsuit competition? He has touched a nerve among Black women in particular, who consider him an IBM (Ideal Black Man) — educated, eloquent, tall, attractive, family oriented, ambitious and down to earth.

President Joe Biden chooses outfits that make him look younger. Donald Trump opts for old-fashioned dark suits and long ties to convey a message of traditional masculinity. Choices like these are attempts by candidates to morph into the ideal "handsome man" by the public's standards.

Studies show, people vote for candidates who put a lot of effort in looking natural and effortless, but not perfect. Some suggest this is why Mitt Romney was not elected; he looked or presented himself as flawless. People also questioned if he was too handsome. Former President Bill Clinton had the ability to talk naturally and with ease with many ethnicities, such as the Black community. This sense of naturalness made voters feel he was trustworthy. Unlike Mitt Romney, Clinton was known not to be perfect. He was flawed, especially when it came to women. President Clinton was a president many women may have voted for due to his charisma and charm, if not for his physical features.

In 2005, Princeton psychologist Alexander Todorov and colleagues published an astounding study. Todorov and colleagues developed computer models of how faces can suggest character traits like trustworthiness and likability. The competent face shape is masculine but approachable, with a square jaw, high cheekbones, and large eyes. The shape of the eyebrows can suggest anger, for instance, while a long distance between the eyes and the mouth can suggest sadness. An incompetent face, beady, close-together eyes paired with high eyebrows suggest fearfulness. Mitt Romney vs. Newt Gingrich: How much do looks matter in presidential politics? (slate.com)

So, is Trump attractive? Evolutionary psychologist, Todd Shackelford of Oakland University. said Trump is not, from a scientific point-of-view, good-looking. “Indications of non-natural skin texture or color, non-natural hair”—such as Trump’s conspicuous fake tan and orange-tinted ’do—“these are cues that people read as, ‘Something is wrong,’ and that decrease ratings of attractiveness, according to Shackelford. But it seems Trump knows, when it comes to assessing the rich and famous, women are far more forgiving of physical attributesThis may be why Trump has so much White female support - the lure of money and power, not good looks

A 1976 profile of the young mogul in the New York Times gushes: He is tall, lean and blond, with dazzling white teeth, and he looks ever so much like Robert Redford. He rides around town in a chauffeured silver Cadillac with his initials, DJT, on the plates. He dates slinky fashion models, belongs to the most elegant clubs and, at only 30 years of age, estimates that he is worth “more than $200 million.”

Trump, who did look a little bit like Robert Redford in those days, described “flair” as one of his favorite words. “If a man has flair … and is smart and somewhat conservative and has a taste for what people want, he’s bound to be successful in New York,” he said. Trump informs people how to SEE him. The shtick appears to have worked on Andy Warhol, who wrote in his diaries in 1981 that Trump was “good-looking” and “a butch guy.”

Trump’s perceived virility declined in the 1980s and ’90s in tandem with his prestige and financial troubles. When he no longer could rely on youthful good looks and a large bank account, Trump turned to BEHAVING ugly to draw people to him. Ugly IS his attractiveness.

“The Ugly American” – a phrase made famous by the 1958 political novel about U.S. policy in Southeast Asia by Eugene Burdick and William Lederer – can no longer refer just to the prototypical loud, ignorant American. Today the title has taken on a real human face, and that is the face of Donald Trump. Like in 2016, Trump must make a campaign of darkness and disarray. He tries to take away the electorate's desires for a hopeful future. He strips the voters of the excitement of a new beginning, and demoralizes, demeans, and dejects. Donald Trump embodies ugly. This time, ugly is his only way forward. Ugly is how he surprisingly achieved accidental success in 2016. Ugly is how he will succeed again.

Because he is ugly in behavior, he tries to make his opponents ugly or whoever displeases him. He has no problem trying to ugly up women. When facing presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, Trump said, "If Hillary Clinton can't satisfy her husband, what makes her think she can satisfy America?" [April 16, 2015]. Facing another female candidate, Carly Fiorina, he stated, "Look at that face. Would anybody vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president? I mean, she's a woman, and I'm not supposed to say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?" [Sept. 9, 2015]. On Arianna Huffington he stated, "Unattractive both inside and out. I fully understand why her former husband left her for a man — he made a good decision." [Aug. 28, 2012]. On Stormy Daniels, he also commented, "Horseface" [Oct. 16, 2018"I never liked horseface. That wouldn't be the one. There is no one. We have a great First Lady."  [March 25, 2023]. You get the picture?

You can be beautiful on the outside but ugly on the inside and eventually your actions will show people how ugly you really are. Kamala Harris does not have to give energy responding to comments regarding how her physical features. Beauty fades, but the heart remains the same. Kahlil Gibran said, "Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart."

If Donald Trump wants to focus on things that fade and don't matter and Kamala focuses of bringing joy and hope for a better and brighter future, I'll take what she is offering. Beauty has always been in the eye of the beholder. Thank goodness looks are not on the ballot. But if it was, scientific evidence shows Trump would lose by a landslide.

I will end with a famous quote I learned as a child; "Beauty is as beauty does," which means that beauty is worthless unless it comes with a kind, generous soul. Whether someone is actually “beautiful” should be judged by their actions, not their appearance.

The Trumps Are Grifters.

DOES DONALD TRUMP WANT YOUR VOTE OR YOUR MONEY!?

Trump says people can't afford MILK or BACON, but he is betting on you being able to BUY his merchandise.

I don't know about you, but I am beyond disgusted with the Republicans taking every opportunity to monetize any and everything. As the New York trial of Donald Trump began 4/15/24 (Stormy Daniels), there was a man outside of the courthouse selling Donald Trump hammocks. I mean everyone is getting in on the fleecing of Trump followers. Even though I do not support Trump as a presidential candidate, I do feel saddened by the everyday Republican being financially taken advantage of by people they hold in high regard and people they don't know. The hammocks are also being sold on a MAGA website for $1,545.24. NO LIE.

The merchandising to Republicans doesn't stop there. For the devote Christian, there is a Donald Trump Bible. I'm hoping his Bible contains the original content of the Old and New Testament. It would be a sad thing if even the words of a sacred book Christians have turned to for guidance for years has been manipulated for one man's own purpose. Side note, many already believe the Bible, through time in the hands of men seeking personal agendas, has already penned parts of the Bible as we know it now to conform to their agenda. Anyway, you can buy a Trump Bible for $60.00.
Merchandising a Bible was a stroke of genius since the majority of Republicans claim to be devout followers of the Christian religion. It is to Trump's ADVANTAGE to present himself as Christian. Research shows that candidates that are perceived to be religious are considered more trustworthy. A 2020 PRRI American Values Survey found that of Democratic voters, 42% were Protestant while 23% identified as Catholic. The same survey found that of Republican voters, 54% were Protestant while only 18% were Catholic. No one really cares how a Christian lives out their faith, unless they are from the Democratic party, then THEY are sinful and against God if they don't follow all the guidelines of the Bible.
People on social media are making jokes about Trump authoring parts of HIS Bible replacing the words of Jesus, even Moses, to his followers. Adding him as possibly a mystery author in the LEETERS contained in the Bible. Yes, Trump is turning the Christian and Christian Bible into a JOKE.

This was Trump's pitch when he first introduced his Bible, “Happy Holy Week! Let’s Make America Pray Again. As we lead into Good Friday and Easter, I encourage you to get a copy of the God Bless the USA Bible,” Trump wrote, directing his supporters to a website selling the book for $59.99.

Oklahoma’s top education official is seeking to purchase 55,000 Bibles for public schools and specifying that each copy contain the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution, which are not commonly found in Bibles but are included in one endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

If you need shoes? You got it for $200.00 on one website. Trump was met with loud boos as well as cheers at the Philadelphia Convention Center as he introduced what he called the first official Trump footwear. The shoes, shiny gold high tops with an American flag detail on the back, are being sold as “Never Surrender High-Tops” for $399 on a new website that also sells other Trump-branded shoes and “Victory47” cologne and perfume for $99 a bottle. “The Never Surrender sneakers are your rally cry in shoe form,” the description reads. “Lace-up and step out ready to conquer.”

Donald Trump is apparently hoping to cash in on his own assassination attempt by once again selling tacky, limited-edition sneakers. The new, white high-top sneakers feature a decal of Trump with his fist in the air and blood splattered across his face, and the phrase “FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT,” the words the former president shouted as he was pulled off stage by Secret Service agents during his rally in Pennsylvania Saturday.

Need trading cards? Hell yeah!

Do you smell bad? You don't have to. For $145.00, The Don can change that.
If you are a Trump follower, there is a product made to take your coin.

This reminds me of when I was young. I mean like 5 years old young. Saturday mornings I would be lying on my belly watching my favorite cartoons. When the commercials came on, I loved seeing all of the toys they were showing me I could buy. I would make sure to have a bowl of cereal I say my favorite cartoon characters telling me/singing to me to eat. They were right, Captain Crunch was/is delicious. The steady stream of commercials during cartoon Saturday were just as entertaining as the actual cartoons. Scooby Doo was may fave.

By the time I had children, who also parked in front of the television of Saturday mornings, parents were beginning to complain about the HEAVY marketing to children and the affect it was having on them. What they were marketing to kids came under fire, and that was all of the super sugary foods they knew children would beg their parents for and be hooked on almost like an addiction. Parents decided this kind of marketing to young people was against the health and wellbeing of the intended target, but it was the PARENTS, the adults/grown people that said you're not getting my money anymore. Now, we have less sugary Captain Crunch. But I still like it.

We all know cigarettes were marketed for profit. The manufacturers hit targeted demographics with expertise. The Marlboro Man was for the white man whose ego was wrapped up in how manly he was. So, a smoking cowboy, was an image they wanted to relate their own image to.

Yes, cigarette manufacturers target specific demographics. The tobacco industry has been known to target many groups, including:
  • Women
Tobacco companies have produced brands specifically for women, and marketing often features themes of social desirability, empowerment, independence, and weight control.
  • Racial and ethnic groups
Some tobacco products are advertised and promoted disproportionately to specific racial or ethnic groups. For example, cigarette brands with names like Rio, Dorado, and American Spirit have been marketed toward Hispanics, American Indians, and Alaska Natives.
  • Youth and young adults
Tobacco company advertising and promotion influences young people to start using tobacco.
  • LGBT community
The tobacco industry was one of the first to develop marketing materials specifically targeting the LGBT community.  cigarette manufacturers targeted specific demographics - Google Search.
ONCE UPON A TIME ME
The tobacco industry has marketed menthol cigarettes and other tobacco products, especially flavored cigars, to Black communities, especially youth, for over 60 years. Menthol cigarettes are easier to start and harder to quit, which may contribute to disparities in use. The industry has also disproportionately marketed menthol products in African American neighborhoods, magazines popular with African Americans, and events that are aimed for African Americans.

The cigarette manufacturers are aware they are selling DEATH for money. MONEY will trump morality every time. GREED does not care about a PERSON. Greed cares about a person's MONEY and how to get it from them.
Smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer, causing about 80–90% of lung cancer deaths in the United States. In 2021, 134,592 people died from lung cancer, which is 22% of all cancer deaths. Of those deaths, 71,549 were men and 62,955 were women. number of people who died from lung cancer due to smoking - Google Search.

Why am I saying all of this? Because when a person knows if they can target you in just the right way, they can make a consumer out of you. A CONSUMER of things and IDEAS that are even harmful to you. It is all about the constant in-your-face advertisement. Like the sugary foods peddled to children every Saturday morning, and the cancer stick that will make you cool and excepted, the consumer became addicted and parted with their money no matter the price.

The RIGHT has become those little children wanting the latest toy or candy. They jump on what Trump and his MAGA corner peddlers are selling them in an effort to be the first cool kid to have it in the neighborhood or group. While choking and hacking up phlegm repeating Republican talking points, rhetoric, and dog whistles, you are reminded of the smoker diagnosed with lung cancer who continues to smoke.
What Donald Trump is doing to the image of a man who a country elects to the most important job in the country, the presidency, is no more than a corner street CD hustler or bootleg movie seller. He's like those traveling salesmen of the old West peddling wares. The TONIC which cures all ills and works wonders for whatever you may need. In actuality they were snake oil salesmen. Snake oil salesman is a common label used to describe someone who sells, promotes, or is a general proponent of some valueless or fraudulent cure, remedy, or solution. The term comes from the "snake oil" that used to be sold as a cure-all elixir for many kinds of PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEMS. People were reaching for anything, willing to part with the little bit of hard-earned money for something to help with what was going on with their mind and emotions. *****PAY ATTENTION PEOIPLE***** They were trying to cure what caused them pain, anxiety, stress, within THEMSELVES magical promises from outside of themselves.
There was one salesman who was said to be the most famous of all, Clark Stanley. This so-called Rattlesnake King was named Clark Stanley. He used to be a cowboy, then he patented the Snake Oil Liniment that he believed was going to make him rich. “Good for man and beast,” the bottle read. “The most remarkable curative discovery ever made in any age or country.

I do believe Mr. Stanley has nothing on Donald Trump. If you need IT or don't need IT, Trump has something to SELL you. Who is watching out for the vulnerable REPUBLICAN?

Trump is also selling promises. Promises for a certain demographic that ONLY he can deliver because he is unlike any other president ever before. His greatness is great unlike you have ever seen before. He's intelligent, Putin and Kim Jong Un said they have never met a president so intelligent. TRUMP SOUNDS LIKE A SNAKE OIL SALESMAN every time he speaks. He is peddling for money CONSTANTLY
The snake oil salesman didn't care if what he was selling you actually helped you. Usually, he blamed the purchaser for not receiving the promised results from what he had sold them. The salesman was always ready with an excuse and may have sold the person another item to remedy the first failed item they bought from him. This is Donald Trump in my opinion.

I'm not so much writing this blog post to say people SHOULDN'T vote for Donald Trump (which I do stand on), but to say PEOPLE!!!!! STOP GETTING FLEECED BY REPUBLICANS!!!!

Now we have the former first lady joining in on fleecing Republicans while promoting her book, Melania. Many believe she is just USING the abortion issue to get people to buy her book. She states she is for women having control over their bodies. Joy Behar of the View, pushed back, however, stressing that she thinks the Republican party "put her up to this" and calling the clip "a big scam" and a lie to court attention and votes in the November presidential election.

Melania Trump is faced criticism and derision from detractors online, after promoting chains featuring patriotically themed pendants. According to the website, the Bravery version comes in stainless steel or gold plating and features the engraved image of a soldier and the U.S. flag. The steel version retails for $125 apiece while the gold-plated design is available for $175.

Trump supporters need to wake up and understand they are no more than a DOLLAR to Trump. He will be a president remembered as the ONLY president who used his elected position to SELL junk to his supporters. He has no shame or dignity when it comes to separating them from their money.
