WOMANHOOD INTERVIEWS NEEDED

Hello, I'm an author who writes about women's issues with a dash of Theology (my degrees are in Theology). Your thoughts, opinions, experience will add greatly to the growth of women around the world.

Thanks for your interest in being interviewed for my blog about Womanhood in the 21st Century.

I was shocked to find there is not a recognized definition of womanhood. I began to think who are we as women and how does society view us? Are we failing to live up to the standard of being a woman? If you don't know where you're going, you're going to have a hard time getting there.

My book about manhood had a large number of articles defining what it means to be a man. They have the 3 P's = provider, protector, procreator. But it seems womanhood has never been able to be summed up in three words. Women are more complex. Your interviews will help me in defining the 21st Century woman.

As you can see, manhood is defined as a "doing" person, but women have been defined as a "being" person. If you search the word womanhood it says, "It is a state or time of being a woman. The composite of qualities thought to be appropriate to or representative of women rather than a girl, and an adult female." Then you are directed to search a definition of 'woman' or 'femininity'.

The definition for woman is the sex producing ovum and bears an offspring, a girl who has passed through puberty, adolescence, or gets her period. The definition of feminine is graceful, gentle, empathetic, humble, sensitive, passive, tender, nurturer, sweet, supportive, warm, cooperative, expressive, modest, affectionate, kind, helpful, devoted, and understanding. None of the above seems to capture womanhood in my eyes. Getting your period can't be all that defines us a woman or womanhood.

I did finally find 3 expectations of being a woman (womanhood): physical attractiveness, nurturing, and empathetic. Physical attractiveness ranked highest in this study.

To participate in this project, you simply have to answer 7 easy questions, e-mail your answers to my e-mail address: rizerfall@yahoo.com, and you will be notified when your interview will be posted so your family, friends, and thousands of people can view it. You can choose to use your real name, social media name, or anonymous. Your interview will be more helpful if you use your first name at least.

I thank you for your participation. Your interview will help young girls as they take their steps into adulthood and women navigating a world that defines femininity as a socializing ideology which means where you live, that particular society, defines and organizes material ways of life (how women are defined), particular practices related to gender, and sexual relationships.
